New York State Aid
The Harmed Suburban Five is a coalition of parents, teachers and administrators fighting for funding equity for New York’s Ossining, Port Chester, Glen Cove, Riverhead and Westbury school districts.
For the last decade these five school districts have faced a severe funding shortage — increasing class sizes, impacting graduation rates, and threatening critical programs like Pre-K, science classes and Advanced Placement courses. Despite increased enrollment and a decrease in community wealth, they currently receive less than 55 percent of the Foundation Aid funding they’re entitled to. The Harmed Suburban Five are united in calling on state lawmakers to increase Foundation Aid funding levels to the state average of 80 percent.
